With other notable car manufacturing names making waves at upscale motor shows, the Nissan owned Infiniti had to fire back and show that it too had what it takes to make it in the luxury car SUV sector. The 2018 Infiniti QX80 does a lot to leave a mark on proceedings, employing technology and excellent craftsmanship.
Boasting a range features that include hydraulic body motion control and a smart rear view mirror, the QX80 is one SUV that delivers on its promise for improvement on the luxurious side of things. One can tell from the small tidbit here and there that the designers and engineers logged a lot of hours on this one.

Exterior of the 2018 Infiniti QX80
The Infiniti QX80 2018 is a big car, there is no hiding that. And why should you? The design of the exterior is a fusion of various style elements. These incorporate sporty aesthetics as well as classy elegance, therefore, setting the new QX80 well on its way to luxury.
The front end is wider and the grille is more of a sheer surface, making it more imposing. In its simplicity, the grille lends some much needed character to the appearance of the new QX80. The simple latticework upon which the Infiniti insignia sits is bound by a thick strip of chrome. The slats of the lower intake also incorporate a chrome line that accentuates the design of the linear fog lights. The side hood side air vents also get a little touch of the polished chrome treatment.
Roof rails at the top of the big bodied car indicate that it has got what it takes to handle the off-road. This is more evident by the presence of standard 20 inch wheels. One can, however, opt for 22 inch aluminum alloy wheels. The rear end also gets a new design, with the taillights appearing on the bumper now.
The new QX80 engine
With a large amount of body to haul around, the QX80 needs a powerful engine that is able to do the job with straining under the effort. The Nissan Patrol has performed excellently and, therefore, the engineers decided to fit the same engine in the 2018 Infiniti QX80.
Under the hood of the SUV, there is a 5.6 liter V8 engine that is capable of producing 400 horsepower at 5800 rpm and a torque of 413 pound-feet at 4000 revs per minute. It safe to say, therefore, that the QX80 does make sounds which make the ordinary petrolhead sigh with pleasure.
This engine links up with a 7 speed automatic transmission to move through the speeds. Infiniti provides two models; one with rear wheel drive only and another with the All-Mode 4 Wheel Drive.
Inside the cabin of the 2018 Infiniti QX80
The interior of the QX80 screams luxury and elegance. The light and dark color combinations of the seats against the dash make the inside feel airy and more spacious than it already is. The floating dash appearance is something that the Infiniti designers have done so well. There is an 8 inch touchscreen display at the top of the central hub which displays all the useful data and interfaces with the entertainment.
This central hub is hewn out of wood paneling, with high grade burnished wood at use. This contrasts sharply but nicely with the stitched leather that is draped fittingly over the car seats. Not only are the seats comfortable, providing ample lumbar support, there is also enough legroom. This ensures an enjoyable ride, especially if it is long. This holds true for even the back rows.
One stand out feature of the interior is the smart rear view mirror. This screen shows the driver what is happening at the back and without any interference from back row passengers or cargo in the trunk.
